William purchased this village house in a part of France he loves and is to be his base when he is not traveling overseas for work. The foundations of the building date back to the 11th century and it attained its present status in the late 18th century when it was home to the guardienne of the nearby chateau. In other eras, it has been a lynchpin of village life, housing the blacksmith and the village shop. It was first modernised in 1974 but by the time William acquired it a major renovation was necessary and this included a complete reorganisation of the interior space.
